Te Kawa Mataaho

Public Service Commission - Te Kawa Mataaho

The foundation of this name comes from the Māori tradition, Te Hou Mataaho ‒ the place where leaders stand. Working with Johnson McKay at Ira.nz, we developed a tohu to represent Te Kawa Mataaho and the wider Public Service. The final design represents the Spirit of Service to the community, balance and equity, and responsiveness. Like a bird in flight, leadership can be expressed through the role of the manu ariki serving the wider flock, just as Te Kawa Mataaho works with the Public Service to create manu ariki in each organisation. Blessing of the Learning rooms using the Te Kawa Mataaho narrative design

My time at Te Kawa Mataaho has seen me through many design projects, including several Annual Reports, a Public Service Census campaign, our cultural narrative branding with Ira (as described above), creating videos for social media (and showing how we cultivate spirit of service in the community), and the New Zealand Government logo refresh. Below is a selection of this work.
